The rental vehicle is provided with a full fuel tank and must be returned with a full fuel tank.
⚠️ Important: Misfuelling is not covered by insurance and will be charged to the renter in full.
Payment is made in Norwegian kroner (NOK). Any losses due to exchange rates are not covered by the lessor – this also applies in the event of cancellation and refund of paid rental fees.
| Standard vehicles (all except P and R) | The credit card is charged as a rule within 48 hours before rental start. If the rental starts during or just after a weekend or public holiday, the charge may occur slightly earlier. |

The responsible renter is obliged to treat the vehicle as their own throughout the rental period. The renter is fully responsible for all violations and costs incurred during the rental period, including:
- Illegal parking and parking fines
- Speeding violations
- Toll road charges
- Towing and recovery costs
- Other fines or violations
Payment deadline: The renter is responsible for paying all fines within the given deadlines.
Late payment fee: Rent a Car Lofoten charges NOK 250,- for late payment.
⚠️ Snow chains are not permitted on Rent a Car Lofoten's vehicles.

| Always covers | Damage to the rented vehicle and other vehicles/persons involved in traffic accidents. |
The insurance does NOT cover the following:
– Recovery vehicle
– Window damage
– Misfuelling
– Roof damage caused by standing/climbing on the roof
– Tyre/wheel damage from driving in unsuitable areas
– Lost key
– Engine damage caused by ignoring warnings (high temperature, low oil level, etc.)
– Failure to report damage even when covered by insurance
– Damage caused by negligent behaviour
– Damage where the driver is unfit to operate a vehicle (see separate section below)
The insurance is fully void if the driver is not capable of operating a motor vehicle safely at the time of the incident.
This applies among other things if:
– The police report that the driver is unfit to drive, or
– Civilian witnesses report that the driver is behaving in a manner indicating impaired driving ability.
In such cases, the renter will be fully financially responsible for all damages incurred.
| Cleanliness | The vehicle must be returned in reasonable condition. Excessive soiling (large amounts of dirt, rubbish, empty bottles, etc.) will result in a charge of NOK 500,- for extended cleaning. |
| Fuel | Insufficient refuelling will be charged to the renter. An additional fee of NOK 250,- applies for invoice processing. |
| Excess on damage | Unpaid excess will be charged: NOK 10,000,- (standard) / NOK 0,- (full coverage). |
| All groups – free period | 24 hours free cancellation from the time of booking (does not apply to bookings made less than 48 hours before rental start). |
